Can You Add Subtitles to Any Video Format?

If you’ve ever watched a movie or television show with subtitles, then you know how useful they can be. Subtitles are text that appears at the bottom of a video, usually as a transcription of what’s being said in the audio track.

Do you want to add subtitles to video content? In this post, we’ll go over how to add subtitles to any video format using Flixier – so let’s get started!

What Are Subtitles And Why Do We Use Them?

Subtitles are used as a transcription of the dialogue in films and television shows, to provide information about characters’ actions, and to convey dialogue in languages other than the primary language it was shot in. That’s why you’ll often see them when watching foreign films or TV shows on Netflix or Hulu.

Subtitles are useful for those who are deaf or hard of hearing (or just like watching movies quietly), but they’re also used by people learning another language so they can follow along with what’s being said while they watch their favorite show in English.

Does the Video Format Matter?

The footage you are gathering is of all different sizes, shapes, and most crucially, formats. They occasionally need particular extensions in order to be opened in the software while utilizing offline video editors.

Thankfully, most online video editors support all file types and convert your videos to MP4 when you upload them, so you no longer need to waste time fumbling with third-party video conversion software. This is why we recommend that you add subtitles to videos online.
