How to Design a Kitchen That is Easy to Clean

Our kitchen is undoubtedly the room in our house that requires the most cleaning. Because in this room you’ve got crumbs, smoke, grease, dirt, dust, stains, spills and splatters to deal with. But the good news is that designing an easy-to-clean kitchen will save your precious hours, effort, and expensive cleaning supplies. You can spend less time scrubbing and more time enjoying your beautiful cooking space with practical planning. With these designing tips you will get a kitchen that is easy to clean –

1. Use Tiles in the Backsplash, Walls and Floors

There is no better option than tiles when you want a kitchen that will take less time to clean. A tiled kitchen splashback isn’t just there to look pretty, it is easier to clean than if we just left it as a painted wall. Tile floors are a natural choice for a kitchen because it can withstand heavy foot traffic, water, spills and doesn’t absorb odors or bacteria. British Ceramic Tile comes in every shape, size and style you need to create the kitchen of your dreams.

2. Get an Induction Cooktop

Cleaning an induction cooktop is as easy as wiping off a smooth countertop. On the other hand, cleaning a gas cooktop requires a lot of time and hardwork. Also induction stoves offer greater safety than gas or electric stoves. In induction cooking, there is no heating element or open flame, and the range itself does not get hot, so the risk of accidental burns is far lower. But if you are a cook who loves to use gas, the ease of cleaning the induction surface may not be worth being without your beloved gas stove.

3. Choose the Right Cabinets

Consider white, if you are renovating your kitchen as it will lighten up the space and make it feel cleaner. While most people believe that white cabinets are difficult to clean, the fact is they are no harder to clean than any other. There’s nothing crisper and more polished than a pure white setting. Other than the color, choose flat door cabinetry with few embellishments on the door and hardware. High-gloss laminate and painted doors are the easiest to clean.

4. Choose the Right Countertops

For countertops choose materials like natural stone or acrylic solid surfaces because they are easy to clean and maintain. They are durable enough that they can withstand the wear-and-tear from everyday life without fading or scratching easily cleanable in case of spills. You can go for quartz because they are the most durable and hygienic countertop surfaces. Also quartz countertops  are non-porous with nowhere for bacteria to hide.

5. Put the Trash Bin Near Your Sink

Put the trash bin close to the sink and dishwasher because it will let you conveniently scrape plates before doing the dishes. Put the trash bin next to the sink, but not directly under the sink, if you have the space. The ideal set up for most people would be dishwasher, then sink, then trash bin.
