1. Clean using microfibercloths. This makes the pressure on your screen more uniform and reduces the risk of scratching or damage.

What to Avoid: Fibers from paper towels, tissues, or other materials may cause damage to the screen. A microfiber cloth is the best way to clean an older-fashioned CRT TV. An electrostatic duster is also an option.

2. You should reach into the corner. Keep your cloth moving so that you are always using a clean section.

3. Spray any liquid onto the cloth. Use a fine mist to prevent any damage to any internal parts. Never spray directly on the screen.

What to Avoid: Pretreated dusting cloths are not recommended for use because of the oily finish that they have, which is intended for wood products.

4. You can clean in any overlapping strokes. To remove any residue, wipe the screen with a dry cloth. Make sure to clean the TV cabinet as well so dust doesn’t get in the speakers or ports. This can be done with your vacuum’s dusting tool.

How to remove stubborn spots from your TV screen

Although it might seem obvious to use window cleaner that contains ammonia, this can permanently stain your screen. Tube TVs are the only exception to this rule. They have glass screens that can withstand a quick spray of Windex.

Remove the remote

While cleaning your TV, make sure to clean your remote control. Remove the batteries from the compartment and cover the battery compartment. Turn the clicker upside-down and shake off any crumbs or debris between the buttons. Use a cotton swab to clean the buttons with a DIY TV cleaner (see details below). If this is not enough, you can use a toothbrush or toothpick to remove any grime. You can wipe the sides and back of the remote with a damp microfiber cloth. Allow it to air dry before you use it. Dust the speakers

Make your own TV cleaner

There are commercially available TV screen cleaners (consult your manufacturer’s website to find out specific recommendations), but you can also make your own DIY cleaner. Mixing distilled water with white vinegar is a good way to clean your TV screen. You can avoid the vinegar smell in your home by using a mixture of one percent isopropyl alcohol and four percent distilled water.
