Fans of both Suriya and Bala were ecstatic to hear that they would be working together again after a long period of time. After announcing the film last year, 2D Entertainment, the actor’s production company, confirmed that they would be financing it. In Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, a film called Suriya 41 was shot a few months ago.

Even though her Kollywood debut is still pending, Krithi Shetty was cast as the project’s female lead. GV Prakash was also hired to compose music for the project. Sources say that Suriya will be playing a fisherman in the film, despite the film’s makers keeping the plot under wraps.

Suriya 41 will now be known as Vanangaan in Tamil and Achaludu in Telugu, respectively, following the announcement of the team’s official name. An official first look poster with Suriya’s face partially obscured by a white torn sack was also released by the film’s producers. The actor is seen with a rugged beard, which is a departure from the one he sported in Vikram just a few days ago.

Vanangaan’s fans are now eagerly awaiting the release of the film’s trailer and theatrical release date. There were rumours a few months ago that the project would be cancelled because of a disagreement between Suriya and Bala.

It was only when the actor posted a picture of himself and the director discussing a scene on Twitter that the speculations were quashed.

As of this writing, Suriya has shared the first look posters of the film on Twitter and expressed his delight at working with the acclaimed filmmaker.

A press conference on SIIMA 2017 in Abu Dhabi yesterday revealed that Vijay first narrated the script of ‘Vanamagan,” to Suriya, who turned it down because he thought it was too difficult. As for Jayam Ravi, the director said he didn’t hesitate to accept this challenging script when he approached him. Even though the film is scheduled to be released soon, the first idea for the film was first conceived in 2009.

This summer, Vijay’s film Vanamagan will be released. Harris Jayaraj composes the music and Tirru is responsible for the film’s cinematography. Varun, Thambi Ramaiah, Prakash Raj, and Sanjay Bharathi round out the cast as the film’s male leads.
