Top tips for leveraging for taking good care of your commercial refrigerator

With the Australian commercial refrigerator market having reached a market valuation of AUD 559.9 million, the market is expecting newer models and new technological trends.

Hence, taking care of a commercial fridge is not as easy as it used to be a few years back when the state of technology hadn’t evolved as much. So how do you maintain commercial refrigerators these days? A glance at the following points will help you understand better!

1.    Keep the fridge clean

Keeping your fridge clean constantly is one of the most critical steps to its smooth functioning. A dirty fridge won’t just harm its functionality but can affect the people eating the food out of the fridge, ergo, you!

An unclean fridge interior will lead to bacteria building up inside the fridge. This will further lead to food poisoning if you consume the food stored in it. Food stock wouldn’t be wasted if the fridge was cleaner since an unclean fridge might cause food contamination. After this point, you have to throw the food away if you don’t want to end up falling sick!

Now that you understand why you should clean your fridge, here is how! Just remove all the contents of your fridge, store it in another cooling space for the time being, and scrub the display fridgeinside out!

2.    Maintain the condenser coils

The condenser coils, in simple words, are responsible for regulating the temperature inside the fridge. This component is responsible for cooling the refrigerant and controlling the temperature inside the fridge.

Make sure you keep constant tabs on the condition of these coils since they are one of the essential components of the fridge. If not, you will face equipment failure, overheating, etc.

You will find this coil close to the condenser. All you have to do is detach it from the power source and dust it off. Use a cloth or a brush to ensure that you get all the dust particles on the coil. Once that is done, you can just reattach it wherever it is.

3.    Clean the drains and remove clogs, if any!

Using your commercial refrigerator for a long time without scheduled maintenance can result in sludge collection in their drain pans and tubing.

This will result in a very foul smell enveloping your entire kitchen and must be cleaned immediately with a vinegar solution or mild soapy water.

4.    Take a look at the gaskets near the refrigerator door

Leaking cool air due to a faulty gasket or seal is also one of the main reasons why your commercial refrigerator might not be functioning at optimum efficiency. The fridge door must be vacuum-sealed at all times to make sure that the cool air doesn’t escape.

All you have to do is make sure that the gaskets on all 4 corners of the door are in good condition. If not, get them repaired/replaced, but in case some food is stuck in them, just use mild soapy water to clean them off.

Wrapping up

You might have ignored it for a while, but commercial refrigerator maintenance is not something you should take lightly. Keep checking on your display fridges from time to time to ensure maximum operational efficiency and extended life.
